STI Recoil Master. Reduces Recoil - Plain and Simple. The recoil master is designed for one purpose - to reduce felt recoil. It decelerates the slide before full stroke with a secondary spring. This allows a softer felt recoil helping you to shoot faster follow up shots. The light system is designed for 9 mm and open pistols. The heavy system works well with 40 SW and 45 ACP. Fits STI 1911 and HiCap. Must be able to remove the guide rod from the rear of the slide. 5.0" +P, Bull.

NOTE  COMPLETE
The 5" RecoilMaster guide rod system is used in STIi pistols with a 5-inch slide and either a bushing or bull barrell.  The spring weight (light or heavy) pertains to caliber where 9mm and 38 Super pistols use a light Recoilmaster and 40 S&W and 45 ACP pistols use a heavy Recoilmaster. The guide rod system includes a guide rod, guide rod plug, inner and out springs, and a takedown tool.

Dawson Part# 519-1314 Recoil Spring/STI/For All 1911, HiCap/Recoil Master
5 Pack Light Springs (8lb when I tested them)
Midway Recoil  Master $90.00
The STI Recoilmaster is a complete kit that produces significant reductions in muzzle climb and recoil. This gives the shooter more consistent performance and brings the gun back to point of aim more quickly than convention recoil assemblies. Light Recoilmaster is for 9mm Luger and 38 Super, while the Heavy is for 40 S&W, 10mm Auto and 45 ACP. Both include a takedown tool. Requires installation by a qualified gunsmith.
  • Open Class guns and all 9mm use the Light system
  • Guns, other than 9mm guns, with "tight" slide fit, and guns wth unmodified or classic slides use the Heavy system

    Questions:
1- Why are the Dawson Precision parts #2,#3 longer than the parts created by STI?
2- The upper diameter of Dawson replacement parts are not consistent as
noted in the single reverse plug vs. the complete recoil master kit.

3- The lower diameter of the three plugs are each different with the questionable
variation in the separate reverse plug.
4- DP Tool-less Guide-Rod Problem: Weeks later they send the correct parts.

    Chuck,
Two of the three plugs that you are asking about are made by STI, so I can not answer the question regarding differences in their dimensions.
026-1061 is made by Dawson Precision, and we hold are dimensions to +/- .001 of our design. We have our own design specs which will be different from those of STI, so there will be a small difference. The difference is not enough to worry about as the products work as they should. If you have any further questions, please feel to contact us.
