Here are some pictures of my Brass after cleaning with white rice from Costco @ 25lbs. for $10.00.
I also place 4-5 used bounce pieces in the tumbler.

I clean 1,000 cases with two quarts of rice in the large tumbler. Then I reuse the same rice for two more loads of brass. Each time I change and use 4 bounce sheets. |
Before Cleaning (but rounds were soaked in water with dish soap and came out this dirty). I do not usually soak the brass. This was only a test
above cases were then cleaned with white rice
From range to tumbler - I do not wash my brass, the above example was only a test to show it does not help
From range to tumbler - same brass as above with more light for the sake of this picture
9mm same process | |
Cost is | $10.00 for 25 pounds of rice. Cleaning 3000 cases for 4 pounds yields 6.25 times 3000 rounds is 18,750 cases cleaned. If you shoot 20,000 rounds per year the brass cleaning cost is then about $10.00. Note: NO brass polish or case lube is required. ( a savings of $6-10.00 per bottle ) |
