Grams Follower and Spring Information
INFO. from http://www.shootersconnectionstore.com
The same follower works in both STI and SV mags. These
new kits use a unique locking system to keep the follower from coming
off the spring. The follower and the spring have been completely
redesigned for better reliability and longer life. These are a must
have for any serious shooter. These will not work in the new STI 10
round mags which take a narrower spring. The follower is the same for
all calibers(except 9mm with Spacer). Only difference is the length of
spring. Use the 11 coil for 140mm or less mags with flat base pads in
both 38 and 40. Use the 13 coil for 140mm mags with extended base
pads(7, 8, or 11mm) or 170mm mags.
IMPORTANT--- The 9mm kit is for use with a spacer ONLY. If you are not using a spacer then use the regular follower kit. Important Info- Grams followers are designed to allow you to tune the follower to your gun and mags for slide lock. If you do not want to tune your follower and want slide lock back do not buy these followers. Without tuning they may lock back with 1 round in the mag. This gives you plenty of room for adjustment to fit your particular equipment. If you do not want slide lock back just trim slide stop tab or Follower shelf to bypass Slide stop tab. 11 Coil |

Spacers | 170mm | 140mm |
http://www.shootersconnectionstore.com
Stainless Steel Spacers for using 9mm cartridge in 38 super mags. Must use 9mm followers either by Grams, Arredondo or STI with these spacers. These pacers come in 170mm length with a little extra for fitting to your specific basepad. Not including a +2/3+ pad which you cant use on a 170 mag anyway. . Will need some final fitting for length and form of mag. Back edge that sits against back of mag needs corners rounded or beveled for proper fit. Thees can be cut down and used as 140mm spacer. These are sold individually although picture shows multiples to give different views of the product. | $8.99 | $8.99 |
From Brian Enos Forum - Posted August 2008 by TeamGE First off, I have always recommended a max over-all-length for 9x19 of 1.175", for a STI mag with spacer plate installed. You can have a variance of +or- .005" on this measurement. This measurement is allowing for the variance in manufacturing tolerances of the tubes themselves. This is in no way meant to say it is the best for your gun, it is just the max that will fit inside the mag without having problems. Any particular gun can be tuned to run on much shorter factory length ammo for that matter, but in the most part, the longer the better for powder volume and making major power factor. Running an OAL between 1.160" and 1.175 usually works for everyone, in the average off the self mag tube with spacer plate installed. The reason for spacer plates in the STI mag for 9x19 has been covered many times before, but I will cover it again. The forward spacing control grooves of the STI .38 mag tube are too far forward for the 9x19, and will not make contact with the case mouth of the 9x19 case, thus not controlling the double stack column of ammo correctly. This condition allows the double stack to splay outward, causing nose dives and extra friction. A spacer plate installed in the tube will push the ammo forward, enough to make the case mouth touch the forward spacing control grooves, thus the ammo stacks and feeds correctly. |
