Work_in_GM#2Trying to shoot 9 major with GM#2
7/1/2014JR - tuned the extractor, the ejector, and refit the barrel link last night. Today I shot the gun and by the second round I noticed the recoil spring was way too light!! 5 lbs is for minor loads only. The brass was landing way too far from the gun. Also the gun was recoiling way too much. I put a 7 lb spring in and fired 24 rounds with out a problem. Then I loaded another mag up and had a jam. What stopped the gun was a blown out primer from the previous round. I fired some more and then the same thing. I had three jams out of 30 rounds. All three had blown out primers. I kept the brass and the fragments of the primers for you to see. I think something is wrong with your powder drop on your press. It seems like some are hotter then others. I did notice a different sound in each of the shots. I also ran 40 of my loads though the gun with out a problem. Also I forgot... I did put the second spring back in the Aftec. It didn't feel like it had enough hold on the brass with out it. Try feeding ten brass through your press and measure the powder of all ten. I think the gun had too light of a spring and the ammo also played a part in your jams. Tonight I am working on lighting your trigger. Let me know what you find out about your press.

I will be working on the Square Deal powder bar tomorrow.
I have had issues with it throwing a consistent load.
When I was working with measuring each round, it would vary by .2 grains from time to time.
So I set it at 6.7 with the notion that 6.9 would not hurt as noted in the chart attachec.
When I load tested the rounds to get that powder level for a power factor of 171 with 6.7 grains,
I hand loaded the powder and measured each to get those.
Then I tried a few and later made the 400 rounds of which I left with you 200.

I left the bag of springs with you, there are some 6,7,8lb springs in the bunch.
Thanks for all the hard work,
=========================

Did you have primers blowing out of any of your 9mm loads? Also take a look at the way you are seating the bullet. I noticed the tip of the bullet had a smash mark on it. It looks like it is bulging the bullet out . That could also cause different pressures because of the difference in the thickness of the brass .
=========================
I saved all the test load I shot when determining a powder load. I checked the primers and I did not see any excessive primer markings.
=========================
I just look at the other 200 I made, and they do have that little dimple on the tip.
I will check the press to see where that is happening.
GM#1I was at the range today and shot about 150 in the 38 Super with no jams, that was after removing the
front Aftec spring.
